Mining Engineering Department of the University of Chile is hosting the Eighth International Geostatistics Congress to be held on 1-5 December 2008, in Santiago, Chile.

Geostatistics was pioneered in Chile by professors Jacques Damay, André Journel and Alain Maréchal in the sixties and early seventies. Since then many distinguished geostatisticians have worked in our country, where various practical problems in mining triggered relevant developments and methodologies.

This congress is held every 4 years and provides a unique opportunity for academics, students and practitioners to discuss current trends in the field, exchange their experience and share innovative ideas and case studies.
